Out-of-Town Patients
|
The Nevada Center of Reproductive Medicine has many out-of–town patients. We aim to make your arrangements as easy as possible. Your out-of-town liaison contact person is Traci Rawson, RN. She can assist you with your hotel arrangements and provide you with local information. You can contact her by phone by calling our office at: (775)828-1200. During your stay in Reno, Traci will provide you with recommendations of local attractions. Reno is a clean, convenient, outdoor oriented city with plenty of attractions for you to enjoy.
What to expect: First, you will need to schedule a new patient phone consult. At that time, your physician will outline a treatment plan. If you are planning to undergo an IVF cycle, ideally we would like you to make one trip to Reno prior to your IVF cycle. During that visit, you will meet your IVF coordinator who will order your medications and review the calendar of the IVF plan. A hydrosonogram will also be performed by a physician if it has not been done in the last year. It is also recommended to provide a back-up sperm sample and meet with our financial advisor if this has not occurred prior. If you are unable to make a trip to Reno prior to your IVF cycle, your IVF coordinator will help guide you to make arrangements for the above to be done at a local office and you will have a phone consult with your IVF coordinator to review your IVF calendar.
Your IVF medications will be mail ordered by a specialty pharmacy and sent to your home. When you start your IVF medication, you will initially have 1 ultrasound and 1 blood draw locally. After this, you will arrive in Reno. Most likely you will need to stay in Reno approximately 8-10 days to complete your IVF cycle.
After your embryo transfer, you can travel to your home. It is fine to travel on the day of your embryo transfer. We will give you lab slips so that you can get your pregnancy blood test at a local laboratory. The blood pregnancy tests are typically done 8 and 10 days after your embryo transfer. We are wishing you success with your journey to have a baby!
If you are an out-of-town patient planning on undergoing an ovum donor cycle:
Due to NCRM’s exceptional personalized service, excellent selection of in-house ovum donors, and reasonable cycle costs, NCRM has numerous out-of-town patients who opt to undergo an ovum donor cycle. After your new patient consultation (either via phone or in person), we will provide you with a list of potential ovum donors. You can review your possibilities and choose an ovum donor that best suits you. Traci Rawson, RN, is our ovum donor coordinator and can assist you immensely with this process.
After picking an ovum donor, we will then coordinate your donor and your cycle. While most couples arrive in Reno 1-2 days prior to projected day of egg retrieval in order to assure that they will be able to provide the clinic with a fresh sperm sample, it is acceptable to use frozen sperm that has been previously provided and/or shipped to NCRM.
The embryo transfer will occur 3-5 days after the ovum donor’s egg retrieval. It is fine to travel home on the day of your embryo transfer. Your blood tests to determine if you are pregnant typically are done 8 and 10 days after the embryo transfer.
If you are an out-of-town patient planning on undergoing a gestational carrier cycle:
Reno and its surrounding areas provide a “family friendly” environment. NCRM has associations with many gestational carrier agencies and gestational carriers who are altruistic and wholesome. Because of Reno’s lower cost of living, often gestational carrier compensations are lower than rates quoted in metropolitan areas.
If you are undergoing a fertility cycle consisting of IVF with a gestational carrier, we will coordinate both your cycle and your gestational carrier’s cycle. Ideally, we would like you to make one trip to Reno prior to your IVF cycle. During that visit, you will meet your IVF coordinator who will order your medications and review the calendar of the IVF plan.
If you are an out-of-town patient planning on undergoing an ovum donor/gestational carrier cycle:
Many out-of-town patients who are planning to have a child via an ovum donor and gestational carrier choose NCRM because of its exceptional personalized care and also because of the availability of and affordable compensation of both ovum donors and gestational carriers.
After your new patient consultation (which can occur via phone or in person), we will synchronize and coordinate your ovum donor’s cycle and your gestational carriers cycle. You can either provide a fresh sperm sample on the day of the egg retrieval, or you can ship a cryopreserved sperm sample to our office, which we will inseminate your ovum donor’s eggs with.
